The dam’s height above the lowest foundation is 41.75 meters (137.0 feet), and its length is 1,380 meters (4,530 ft). The gross storage capacity is 0.05269 km3 and the volume content is 0.05174 km3 (0.01241 cu mi) (0.01264 cu mi).
The Gangapur Dam, was opened in 1965, is located downstream of this dam. The storage capacity of the Gangapur Dam has steadily decreased due to silt deposition in the reservoir basin. Due to the high level of urbanization in the region, the right side canal leading to Nashik is also blocked. The Kashyapi Dam was built for these two reasons.
